State of Michigan
Originally named the De Pree, the State of Michigan is a 165′ wooden passenger freight steamer built in 1875 in Manitowac, WI. She sank in Lake Michigan about two miles north of Whitehall on October 18, 1901. She was thought to have sunk due to throwing a piston rod from her big engine, but this was never proven.
The boiler and outer hull are intact, and it is an intermediate dive.
